Is it ok for me cut my dog toe nails?

yes just don't cut on the red line going through the nail, that is a vein and can cause the dog to bleedIs it ok for me cut my dog toe nails?
Yes, but it's only okay if you know what you are doing. It also depends on the breed, because i have a snauzcher and a part of their temperment is they hate their paws being dealt with. If you cut the dog's nails too short then it will bleed, but if that does happen, don't freak out, just get cooking flour and put it on the gashed area. It is probably easier if you just go ahead and take the dog to the vet, but it's cheaper if you go ahead and have the dog groomed and bathed along with it.

Good Luck! :)Is it ok for me cut my dog toe nails?
You can cut them if you have dog nail cutters, but you have to be very carfeful not to cut into the quick. This will make your dog bleed and is painful. Its pretty easy to see it if your dog has light colored nails (its the pink colored strip). But, if they are dark then its alot harder to judge. Also, this can be a difficult task if you have never done it and are planning on doing it alone (or even with help depending on your dog).
It depends on how your dog reacts to it and how experienced you are. If it is a easy going dog that doesn't mind and you are somewhat sure what you will do I would say yes. If you are going to cut them yourself I would suggest buying a dremel tool from Lowes. It is an excellent way to trim nails with its sandpaper attachement. The hardest part either way is to make sure that you don't getinto thequick of your dogs nail.
Yes, but you can't do it with human nail clippers. You need to go to a pet store and buy Dog nail clippers. When you're cutting your dogs nails, DO NOT GO INTO THE PINK. It's very very light, so be extremely careful. Also, if you wait too late to cut its nails, they become infected and will hurt no matter how far away from the pink you are. If it's your first time, you should go to a vet and have them show you how to do it.

Good luck!
You would be far better asking your vet or a dog groomer...........If a dog is given sufficient exercise on a hard surface, there should not be the need to cut the nails, and an occasional file down of the dew claw is all that is required. If you cut the quik, it can be extremely painful for the dog, and it may never let you near its feet again, so not worth the risk.
Yes, but like the others have said you have to be careful not to cut off too much or the dog will start bleeding. I would start off cutting just a tiny bit. P.S. But if you do accidentally cut a little to deep and it starts bleeding, my vet told me to put a drop of glue on the end of the nail to stop the bleeding. It sounds weird to do but it works. When your dog wiggles a lot it is bound to happen once in awhile. Good Luck, any questions let me know, chris
you can but what kind of dog do you have? i have a boxer and his are to big to cut so i use a dremel. it all depends how thick your dogs toenails are. if they are really small, regular toenail clippers would work, and if it is a big dog, and you decide to use the dremel, he may be jumpy at first, but after awhile, he will get used to it
Yes. But I would recommend getting something to put on the toenails in case you cut them too close and they bleed. We use a powder made for animals (it shows a bird on the package but can be used for dogs). You can find this at most pet stores. Also, ask a vet or pet groomer for some tips on how far to cut them and how to do it correctly.
Dog's nails have to be trimmed all the time. I they get to long they can cause problems and be very painful for your dog. If you don't know what you're doing you need to take your dog to the vet or a groomer to have it done.

I've had dogs all my life, and I'm still not comfortable cutting nails. I have someone in town that cuts them for cheap. I also make sure that part of our walks are done on concrete...it helps keep the nails filed.

If you are considering cutting your dog's nails you might want to try a dremel tool, it files the nail instead of cutting them. I use one and I'm completely comfortable with it.
yes it is fine to cut them on your own. but they have this thing called a quick (just like we do). if the toe nails are black it's hard to see. u don't want to cut past that point. it will hurt the dog and they will bleed. but they will not bleed to death like most people think. k, just cut off a little at a time. don't go to fast and make a mistake. good luck
you can u just need to be very careful... inside the dogs tonail is called quick... or i dont kno how to spell it but if u cut to much off into the quick... the nails will bleed. so be careful not to cut off to much... u can see the quick in some of the dogs tonails... but sometimes its hard to c. good luck... if u have trouble, just go to a grooming place and they can teach you. good luck!
Indeed if you buy a pair of dog nail clippers. If you have never done it before i would suggest you get someone to show you to make sure you don't clip too far down and catch the dog.

Groomers, vets and breeders should be able to assist here.
Yes it is ok to cut your dogs nails but be careful that you do not cut it to short, and you could take the dog to the vet but it will cost you and if you do it your self get some help to keep the dog still.
I don't think that's a good idea. Dogs toenails are very easy to cut too short and it causes bleeding. I would recommend you go to a pet salon to get it done because they are professionals and have the special clipper to get the job done.
Yes it is, but it really reccomended you watch a pro do it like at petsmart. I would just pay the 5 bucks and get it done. Tehir is a vein in their nail and if you cut it wrong your dog could be in trouble.
Yes it is ok for you to cut you dogs toe nails, and they sell them @ wal-mart. for like 6 dollars. But if you dont want to cut them ask your mom and dad for help. Or the dogs hairdresser!
Yes but if you do it yourself make sure you don't cut them too short. If you go too short it will be very painful for the dog.
no because you can make your dog bleed really bad do you want that to happen take it to a grommer
yes, because if you don't it may hurt the dog in the future, but not so short.
yes but i would probably take him to the vet or a pet store so they know exactly what they are doing.
yess.. but maybe get a vets helpp... or your dogs hairdresser.
yes it must be cut. the reason behind it is.. if they scratch u. the diseases in their nails may get into u.....
of corse

my dog hurt his paw because his nail was too long!
yes but it is better for an expert to do it
