I smashed my big toe months ago, and lost the nail. The tip of toe bone was also splintered.?

When nail grew back so far, DR seems to think it is is jamming up against a bone spur or something. He removed the nail today to ease pain. 3 choices for long term:

1. let it grow again, see if it grows back ok [why would it the second time ] sorta' doing that now.

2. Do some surgery to bone in toe to ';smooth'; or remove spur, no guarantee nail would come back ok.

3. Remove nail again, and kill the nail bed, so no nail forever.

Kinda' creepy but 3 may the best option,,,, What do you think ?I smashed my big toe months ago, and lost the nail. The tip of toe bone was also splintered.?
Many people have been able to eliminate bone spurs naturally, without surgery. You can read more about this at http://www.bonespur.com
