My mom tried to cut her dog's toe nails and ended up cutting the nerve and now the dog is limping?

when she started to clip the nail the dog yiped real loud and I was holding the dog and when you pet the dog and get close to that paw she yipes and the dog is a Chihauha what can I use to ease the pain or leave it alone or should I take it to the VetMy mom tried to cut her dog's toe nails and ended up cutting the nerve and now the dog is limping?
as long as she is not bleeding she doesn't need to see a vet.. it is going to be sore... it should get better on her own....

if she is bleeding, you need to stop it... dogs can bleed out VERY quickly...

HOW TO STOP IT:

styptic powder (they sell it at pet stores)

corn starch

flower

use one of these products get a good glob on your finger and apply pressure to the nail. once it has stopped bleeding through the powder you can let go... leave the powder in place so that it doesn't start again...My mom tried to cut her dog's toe nails and ended up cutting the nerve and now the dog is limping?
You should always have some quik stop for these situations. You can use corn starch in a pinch. Is it still bleeding? It is very painful but the pain will eventually go away. If she is still limping tomorrow or starts bleeding again call the vet. I don't know how far she cut the quik back. I'm sure she will be fine. I get my dogs every once in a while. It actually helps it to recede farther back into the nail bed so next time it wont be right there. If the dog is tolerant of having her nails done then maybe you should just file them each week to keep them short. They have such small nails a file would work great.
if the nail is bleeding you can put soap on it to stop the bleeding

but you should take the dog to the vet they should prescribe some numbing solution for the nail,

it would be very painful you imagine if you ripped your nail off

how that pain would make you feel,

please get him/her to the vet.
I have done that accidentally in the past. If the bleeding persists, see a vet. otherwise, it is like cutting your own nail into the ';quick';. The pain only lasts a few days.
think of the toenails as your fingernails. yes, it hurts, but it will grow out just like your fingernails. don't worry about it and no need to take her to the vet. it's a common occurrence
Take the dog to the vet as soon as you can.
Take it to the vet. Her paw may become infected.
Take the poor thing to the vet asap!
the paw can get infected if you dont bring it to the vet right away!!
take it to the vet
