Infections in the nail bed and along the edge of toenails is a common problem although you are young to have this happening. Apply some antibiotic ointment under a band aid twice daily for up to a week. it could be that the nail is to long and is pushing into your shoe causing it to hurt, if its not because it is to short and sore trim it so it is even with the toe and not longer than it.





If it is red and swollen you could have an infection.





If your shoes are very narrow it could be sore from shoe pressure.





Guess that's all i can think of
It sounds like an ingrown toenail. And those are very painful!





Try soaking your foot in Epsom salts, then getting the nail out.





If it has grown too far, see a podiatrist.

could be an infection. if it persists, see a doctor. it could be that you cut the nail back to far and it just needs to grow out.
