My male big toe nails keep growing sideways. Why?

My big toe nails begin ok but rapidly begin to grow towards the next toes. This gets painful but any attempts to trim them into shape are far more painful. Apart from amputation what can I do?My male big toe nails keep growing sideways. Why?

def see a doctor or something that sounds pretty gross.... or try to numb them before cutting them off..... or you can grind them down with a file to see if they grow back normally..... sounds like a real problem

Go to your doctor, they'll cut the nail so it grows back up straight, rather than digging into the skin of your toe - no need to amputate it!!
Eat it.
no need to amputate, just get new shoes that don't pinch your toes. that's what's happening. sometimes shoe designers create shoe styles that look fancy but don't really consider how uncomfortable they become when they're actually worn on a day to day basis.
